Roller replacement

Worn rollers make a door feel heavy.

Sliding glass doors ride on roller assemblies at the bottom of each panel. As rollers wear, flatten, or break, the door becomes increasingly difficult to move — and continued forcing can damage the track.

We replace worn roller assemblies and adjust the panel. Roller replacement involves lifting heavy glass panels, so we don’t recommend it as a DIY job. For regular and impact doors, we select compatible roller assemblies for the panel and adjust the door after replacement.

What customers usually notice

  • The door feels heavy
  • It drags or catches
  • It needs extra force
  • It no longer glides smoothly

Track repair & replacement

The track is the path the rollers travel.

When the track is bent, worn, or corroded, even new rollers can’t travel smoothly. Some track conditions can be repaired; others require replacement.

A compatible snap track cover can renew a worn running rail when the supporting track is sound. Roller fit and panel clearance determine whether a cover works on your regular or impact door; other damage may require track replacement.

Common track damage

Broken handles

A broken handle affects more than grip.

A damaged handle can make daily operation difficult and may interfere with the locking hardware it’s connected to. We provide sliding door handle replacement.

Sliding door locks

Door won’t latch or lock?

A sliding glass door that won’t latch or lock correctly may need hardware replacement, adjustment, or alignment work. We handle sliding door lock replacement and check whether alignment is part of the problem.

Alignment

When the door is out of alignment.

Sliding panels can settle out of position over time. Professional adjustment is often part of restoring proper operation — on its own or alongside roller, track, or lock work.

A misaligned door may

  • Drag
  • Rub against the frame
  • Close unevenly
  • Fail to engage the lock correctly

FAQ

Sliding glass door repair questions

Why is my sliding door so heavy?

The most common causes are worn rollers, a damaged or dirty track, or a panel that has dropped out of alignment. Several parts can contribute to the same problem.

Can you replace rollers on impact sliding glass doors?

Yes. Impact doors are typically heavier and use system-specific hardware, so we replace rollers with components suited to that door.

Can a damaged track be repaired?

Sometimes. Minor wear, bends, and surface damage can often be corrected. Severe bending or corrosion may require track replacement.

Why doesn’t my sliding door lock properly?

The lock itself may be worn or broken, or the door may be sitting out of alignment so the latch no longer meets its keeper. Lock replacement, adjustment, or both may be needed.

Is alignment part of repair?

Often, yes. Adjusting the panel so it sits and travels correctly is frequently part of restoring smooth operation and proper locking.

Does a hard-to-slide door need full replacement?

Not usually. Many heavy or dragging doors can be restored by replacing rollers, repairing the track, or adjusting alignment. Full replacement is considered when the door itself is damaged or you want to upgrade.

Do you come to the property?

Yes. We are a mobile service. We inspect and repair the door at your home or business.
