The type of glass determines what can happen during the first visit.

Broken window glass

  • We assess the frame and measure the opening on site.
  • Suitable standard glass may be cut to fit and installed during the visit when appropriate.
  • If the window requires tempered, impact, or other specialty glass, it is measured and ordered.

Describe the glass and opening when you call. Photos help, but stay clear of broken glass.

Sliding door glass

Shattered sliding glass door glass replacement

A shattered sliding door panel needs a precisely sized replacement glass unit suitable for the existing door system. Because sliding door glass is commonly tempered, it is measured and ordered rather than cut on site.

For impact sliding glass doors, the replacement must meet the door system’s impact-rated requirements. We don’t replace laminated impact units with ordinary glass.

Impact glass

Impact glass replacement

Impact-rated glazing has specific construction and performance requirements, and the replacement must match the applicable system. Impact glass generally requires specialized fabrication and ordering.

We measure the opening, determine the specification, order the glass, and secure the opening in the meantime if needed.

Commercial

Emergency storefront glass replacement

For businesses, the path is straightforward: call, we assess, we replace where suitable — and board up the opening if special-order glass is needed.

Reopening timing depends on the glass required, so we’ll explain the options once we’ve seen the opening.

We help with

  • Broken storefront windows
  • Damaged glazed entrances
  • Exposed openings
  • Securing the property

Temporary board-up

When glass must be ordered, secure the opening first.

If the replacement requires specialty glass that can’t be cut and installed immediately, temporary board-up can help secure the opening while the correct product is ordered.

Board-up provides temporary protection until the replacement glass is installed.

Broken glass safety

Broken glass can cause serious cuts, and large panels can fall. Keep people and pets away from the area. Please don’t handle large broken panels, remove impact glazing, climb onto broken frames, or install makeshift unsecured glass. Call and let a professional assess it.

FAQ

Broken glass replacement questions

Can you replace window glass without replacing the frame?

Often, yes. If the frame is sound, the damaged glass can be replaced with a suitable product while the frame stays in place.

Can you cut glass on site?

Yes, for suitable standard glass. We measure the existing frame and cut glass to fit on site when it is appropriate for the opening and applicable safety requirements.

Can tempered glass be cut on site?

No. Tempered glass is cut to size before the tempering process and cannot be cut afterward. A tempered replacement is measured and ordered in the correct finished dimensions.

How do you replace impact glass?

We measure the opening and determine the requirements of the existing system, then order impact glazing fabricated to match. The opening can be boarded up in the meantime if needed.

Do you replace shattered sliding door glass?

Yes. We measure the panel and order a replacement suited to your door system, including impact-rated units where the door requires them.

What if the glass must be ordered?

We measure, specify, and order the correct glass, secure the opening temporarily if needed, and return to install once the glass arrives. Lead times depend on the product.

Can you board up a storefront?

Yes. Temporary board-up can help secure a broken storefront opening while replacement glass is ordered.

Can you work on residential and commercial properties?

Yes. We replace glass for homes, condos, and businesses, including storefronts.

What information should I have when calling?

The property address, which window or door is broken, the approximate size of the opening, whether it is an impact window or door if you know, and whether the opening needs to be secured.
